Getting Ready for 2020...

I haven't written for a while, as I've been spending lots of time having fun with family and friends and spending lots of money on presents on the lead up to Christmas. Now, I'm getting ready to fall flat on my face for the month of January when everyone gives up drink, joins the gym and only eats healthy food.

This year I have decided to have a 'use it up' month and work my way through the fridge, freezer and cupboards by eating up food that is already there rather than going out and buying more. After December being spent gorging on more than is humanly desirable, I am still happy to gorge but only with what's currently 'in stock'. This will help to avoid waste after buying so much for the festive season but to also stop me being such a spend-thrift.

I am hoping to create a 'Ready, Steady, Cook' scenario in my kitchen, which my family are riveted by the sound of. We may end up feasting 'Mermaid' style - I love that film, eating marshmallows on skewers with broccoli. I am aiming not to buy anything unless absolutely necessary, such as fresh or frozen vegetables once we've run out.

I also want to make do with the clothes I already own because I have many and being a hoarder, have some dating back two decades, so I have a plentiful vintage wardrobe to browse through. If I do get desperate, I have told myself I can only buy something from a charity shop if I donate five items.

Instead of buying new things, I want to spend the time I would have taken going shopping, to making something instead, such as writing a poem, writing a story, painting a picture for example or simply listening to music, watching a film, reading a book, singing, dancing or going for a long walk. I'm looking forward to 2020 already...
